St. Joseph School celebrated 8th grade graduation on May 30, 2013.

Congratulations to our graduates and much success in their future endeavors.

Scholarships were awarded at the St. Joseph School Awards Assembly, May 29, 2013.  Left:  Caitlin Harley, 5th grade received the Student Council Scholarship; Jocelyn Shade accepted the Johhny Gottfried Memorial Scholarship from Val (Gottfried) Smith; Wyatt Gattshall accepted the Connie Stanek Scholarship from Mrs. Stanek; Michaela Jeffrey received the Alumni Scholarship and Emilee Cochran received the Disciple In Action Scholarship.  Jocelyn and her brother Trevor Shade collected the highest amount of pledge support ($525) in the Labor of Love service project the school promoted May 16.



St. Joseph School's Talent Show was held May 28. 
Winners were (left to right) tied for "Most Talent" Isabella Salvati and Olivia Pasqualini for the "Cup Song;"  "Best Performance" was awarded
to Summer Davis for her Baton routine; the "Most Creative" award went to Lauryn Tadda and Caitlin Harley for their Tootie Roll dance; and
the other group tied for "Most Talent" were Michael Dzugan and
Devon Reed for the brass band instrumentals.



Ty Clark, Caleb Moore, Brianna Briggs and Dakota Gattshall were part of the St. Joseph School fifth and sixth grade class members who participated in the Labor of Love school project May 16.  Students did service work throughout the community, with this group painting the underpass on Scott Street.  Pledges for the service time were sent to the school as part of a fundraiser.


Second grade students planted flowers at Crestline City Hall as part of their Labor of Love service project to raise funds through pledges of support for the projects they did around the community.


Crestline School Boosters (funded by Crestline Eagles Auxiliary F. O. E. AERIE #859) Grant Funds were awarded to St. Joseph School for the purchase the two new Mini iPads for student use. Pictured are Kindergarten students Olivia Thoman and Luke Quail trying out a math app.  The grant purchase also include lime green protective covers.


Mrs. Diane Schneider, Regional Consultant for the ODE Office, reported St. Joseph School Lunch Program, (Food Service Director Jennifer Zizzo)  "in compliance" with the state standards and requirements for Child Nutrition.  Pictured as she was observing lunch procedures and service, students Aubrey Zizzo, Logan Huber, and Brennan Briggs welcomed her.


St. Joseph School congratulations goes to fifth grade students Caitlin Harley and Lauryn Tadda, who were chosen as winners in the
Galion Ellks #1191 "American Essay Contest." Each winner will
receive a $50 Visa Gift Card and be recognized at the
Elks Youth Banquet Monday, May 6.



St. Joseph School students marched and prayed in support and in unison of the Washington, D. C. March For Life January 25.


ProLife March at St. Joseph:
Fr. Geiger gave a reflection about how our community and county would be without some very important people, had their mothers chosen abortion.  Included for thought was Jesus, the Wright Brothers, the inventor of the Printing Press, and even some of the teachers of the students.  "Every life is important" and he encouraged everyone to do something rather than do nothing, in support of ending abortion.


Tiffin Franciscan Sr. Barbara Jean Miller presented her story about becoming a Franciscan sister to the St. Joseph School children as part of the Vocation Awareness Week celebration


St. Joseph School students participated in the presentation of  "Jacob's Gift" for their Christmas Program in the Convocation Center.



Second and Third grade students collected leaves from the school area and created works of art with them for the Christmas Craft Show at St. Joseph School.  Left:  Bella Salvati, Nick Huber and Geoffrey Tadda show their talents framed and ready.  The students and families of St. Joseph School thank everyone in the community for attending and supporting the event.


St. Jospeh School's Student Council members received a small grant from Bucyrus Wal-Mart for the purchase of candy bars to help them raise funds.  The members designed a label that read "You are sweeter than a candy bar" and had a place to write names to give gifts for Sweetest Day.  Student council members are:  Front: Emily Cochran, Dakota Gottshall, Caitlin Harley; back:  Noah Thoman, Dakota Quail, President Michaela Jeffrey and Sabrina Robertson.




Students in the Diocese of Toledo participate in a spring Writing Competency program to evaluate the writing skills of third, fifth and seventh graders.  Assessments for various writing skills, including grammar, spelling and comprehension, are judged and reported to the students' schools in September. Students scores range between one and five with five as the top score.  From Left:  Emilee Cochran and Luke Stidman scored all fives, and Taylor Webster, Caleb Moore, Hanna DeLong, and Summer Davis averaged 4.5 scores, in recognition of their excellent writing performances.

Green Eggs and Ham!  Oh my! 
St. Joseph Preschooler Hadley Davis, left center, celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday last Friday.  After hearing his Green Eggs and Ham story, they tasted their own green eggs, which turned out to be not so appealing. Teachers beat 8th grade students at the
Catholic Schools Week Volleyball Game Monday on Jan. 28.

5/6th grade students from St. Joseph School received their certificates and awards from Crawford County Sherriff's Deputy Chris Martin for completion of the D.A.R.E Program as part of their graduation ceremonies Wednesday, January 23. Vocation Awareness Day:
Second grader Landon Kurtzman helped Fr. Mike Geiger show the St. Joseph School students what vestments a priest wears and learn the history and meaning of each of the article of clothing.


Space Challenger trip with 7/8th grades November 14, in Oregon, Ohio, thanks to a grant from the American Legion of Crestline.



Student council members (Dakota Gottshall, Dakota Quail and Emily Cochran) hosted a Book Fair for the students at St. Joseph School the week of Nov. 22-25th.  Children donated their old books and purchased other's donated books.  Over $150.00 was raised for Student Council.


St. Joseph Teachers and Staff depicted a saint in honor of All-Saints Day.  Our teachers are so very special!!!!



Mr. Andy Frisari (left sitting at table) prepared an Italian lunch for the St. Joseph School (Crestline) students and staff in celebration of their first nine weeks studying the Italian language, Wednesday, October 17th.  The children sang "Buon Giorno, Mia Cara" to him after enjoying a meal of meatballs, lasagna, potatoes, biscotti, and chocolate truffles. Frasari is a former New York restaurant owner and chef and gifted the lunch to the school.
